New Manager and Sales Associate

Fill HFH-GTR ReStore Vacancies

By Nancy Kiogima

We are sad to have to say goodbye to George Jones. As a Habitat board member, George was instrumental in making our Habitat ReStore a reality.

Then, as our first ReStore manager, he did all the legwork in getting our ReStore up and running and worked diligently throughout the different phases of opening the new business to ensure growth.

George and his wife have opted for warmer climate and have moved to Florida, where he will semi-retire. We will miss George and thank him for all he has done for our ReStore and for our affiliate.

We are excited to have Wayne Pare’ take over for George as our new ReStore manager.  Wayne and his wife, Linda, have lived in the Traverse City area for over 20 years.  Wayne retired from TV advertising and sales in June of 2006 and worked as a part-time sales associate in the Habitat ReStore prior to taking over as the manager.

He fills his spare time with his favorite hobby by creating art using twigs and bark.  Wayne brings with him many attributes that will enhance our ReStore. In addition to his construction knowledge and great customer service skills, he is also very creative and full of ideas that will utilize and recycle the products we carry in the ReStore. He’s eager to share his knowledge, skills and creativity with our customers. He and his crew are in the process of reorganizing our inventory to create a more pleasant shopping experience for all who visit and shop our ReStore.Wayne is a true asset to this important part of our ministry..

We’d also like to welcome our new part-time sales associate, Steve Houlihan.  Steve served in the United States Marine Corp, attended the University of Michigan, where he earned a Bachelor’s of Economics degree and has spent the last 14 years in Traverse City.  He retired from the real estate business in 2006.  Steve said, “This is a fun job and I especially enjoy the people contact.”  He said he learns something new every day and is excited for the opportunity to learn more about Habitat for Humanity and the ReStore.
