How It Works

Six local celebrities paired with six local dance instructors have pledged to sacrifice sore feet and hours of practice time, to entertain an audience and encourage vote donations.

In a series of five live performances the audience will have the privilege of voting for their favorite couple for a minimum donation of $5 to go towards one of the six charities selected by the competing couples. Voting donation envelopes will be given to each attendee as they enter the event. There will be a spot to mark which dance couple they are voting for and charity to which they are donating.

At the live performances, voters are encouraged to donate as much as they would like to the charity of their choice, $5 is only a minimum starting point.  Although you can only vote for your favorite couple at one of the five live events, donations will also be accepted online, from this website, as well as at all performances.

Our Dancers

Kristin Marinoff

Kristin

Kristin was born and raised in Grand Haven and lives in Northern Michigan to enjoy the amazing summer season! Kristin and her wonderful husband, Peter, are parents to two sons Mackinley (8) and Pierson (5). Kristin has a degree in Journalism and has produced TV News and has since worked for Hagerty Insurance. Currently, Kristin is the Assistant Editor of Grand Traverse Woman Magazine. She is thrilled to work with such a fun and energetic group of women, while still working from home to be with her sons.

Kristin is happy and humbled to be dancing for Habitat for Humanity and feels strongly about the role Habitat plays in our community. She is especially excited to take off her dancing shoes and put on her hard hat to participate in the Women Build project to build a home for a Leelanau County mom and her twins.

Jody Brown

Jody

Jody was born in Illinois and traveled the Midwest before calling Traverse City home for the past 19 years. Jody enjoys boating, fishing, playing the guitar and music trivia. He and his wife, Lisa, have been involved in competitive dancing nationally, winning 3rd place overall finish at the 1999 UCWDC World Championships. Although 2002 was their last year of competition, they still continue to instruct locally.

Jody is currently the Director of Retail Media for Britten Banners. He and Lisa have been married for 32 years, and have three children and four grandchildren. It took an amazing second season of SwingShift and the Stars, a year off and some arm-twisting, but Jody is ready to get back at it with a new star partner and fabulous charity.
