Cans for Habitat donations
Grand Traverse Mall shoppers are now able to discard beverage cans and bottles while donating to HFH-GTR. Clearly-marked containers placed throughout the mall will serve as an on-going fundraiser for the organization. Thanks to the Grand Traverse Mall and Deb Selby, who is spearheading this effort.
ReStore Anniversary Celebration
by Christine Kurtz
Whether you’ve never visited the ReStore or you are already a regular customer, be sure to come by between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 during Customer Appreciation Day.
A free lunch will be served in the parking lot at 1132 Barlow Street between Carver and Baldwin.
Deering’s famous homemade hot dogs, chips, soft drinks and water will be available.
The celebration marks the ReStore’s second anniversary.
Michael O’Shea will broadcast live from the site on WCCW 107.5 FM and The Breeze 92.9 FM, playing contemporary classics from the ’80s and ’90s. He will be handing out prizes, including 25-percent-off coupons for the ReStore and a Grand Prize of a $1,000 gas card!
O’Shea also plans four live interviews with Habitat personnel during the three-hour show.
Donations of pre-owned and new merchandise will be accepted that day.
The ReStore carries a wide variety of building materials including electrical and plumbing supplies, along with furniture and appliances. Regular donors of new materials include Home Depot, Lowe’s, DeWeese Hardware, Access Window & Door, Miller Creek Computers and more.
Wayne Pare, ReStore manager, said he hopes many new people will come out to see what the ReStore is all about. “No one visits the store just once,” he said. “They always return to shop again.”
