Traverse City State Bank was proud to present the Grand Traverse Region Habitat for Humanity with a check for $15,000. Dan Baldwin and Amy Grant from Traverse City State Bank presented the check on Wednesday June 30th to Pam Doty-Nation, Executive Director, with Nancy Kiogima and Carrie Ullery-Smith of Habitat for Humanity. These funds will be used for down payment assistance for local Habitat families and were made possible as part of TCSB’s participation with the HOP (Homeownership Opportunities Program) grant program provided by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis.

“Traverse City State Bank boldly stepped forward to partner with us to access these funds. This is a tremendous help to our families and Habitat overall. Without them, we would have missed this opportunity and future opportunities to assist hard-working low-income families,” noted Pam Doty-Nation.

Traverse City State Bank has been a long time supporter of the Grand Traverse Region Habitat for Humanity through volunteerism and financial support. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work together with such a great community asset on these projects, and look forward to working together on projects in the near future helping the community THRIVE!” said Dan Baldwin, Vice President Mortgages.

DTE Foundation Donates $20,000 to HFH-GTR for First LEED Certified Home
  • The DTE Foundation, Northwestern Michigan College and over a dozen area churches will partner with HFH-GTR this fall to build this affiliates first LEED Certified home on South Airport Road, near Sam’s Club.
  • This LEED Certified home is being built for future homeowner, Ryan Hannon, and his 2 children. Hannon heads the Safe Harbor Shelter Program. Through his work with Goodwill and Safe Harbor, Hannon assists the homeless population of Traverse City who seek shelter in the cold, long winter months. His dedication to serving this population is felt throughout the community.
  • The DTE Foundation, NMC and representatives from other local businesses recently joined HFH-GTR for a design charrette where the partners of HFH-GTR came together to determine the green features of the LEED certified home.
  • LEED is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is a nationally recognized certification for green building.
  • Building to strict environmental standards can save our average home owner $1000-$2000/year on their energy costs and of course. It also helps HFH-GTR protect the pristine environment of the Grand Traverse Area.
  • We encourage anyone who loves the Grand Traverse Area to support Habitat’s efforts to build environmentally friendly homes; for both the betterment of the families we serve and for the sustainability of our area.
  • Donations can be made to Habitat for Humanity-Grand Traverse Region and be sent to: PO Box 5412 ~ Traverse City, MI ~ 49696
